A Riverside Café Inspired by Lotus Leaves in Tamsui

Located along the serene banks of the Tamsui River, this riverside café draws inspiration from the delicate forms of lotus leaves and flowers. The overarching design concept mimics the natural elegance of lotus leaves, with glass canopies serving as rain shelters. These glass "leaves" provide shelter while maintaining transparency, allowing patrons to remain connected to the river's tranquil scenery.

The café's structural elements take the form of steel frames, representing the stems of the lotus leaves. These frames rise randomly from the river's edge, creating an organic, almost whimsical aesthetic. Each steel stem is anchored and balanced by three tension cables, ensuring stability through a unique, three-directional mechanical equilibrium.

The café's floor features glass panels that reveal the flowing river beneath, offering a view of the fish swimming below. This connection to nature adds an immersive and dynamic element to the visitor experience, blending architecture with the natural world seamlessly.

The overall design exudes a poetic, almost calligraphic quality, reminiscent of cursive script—fluid, expressive, and slightly untamed. This poetic and slightly wild architectural style captures the essence of the natural environment, creating a harmonious and tranquil space where visitors can relax and enjoy the beauty of the Tamsui River.
